Are Permanent Hair Removal Solutions Really Permanent?

Category : Beauty

Are you getting sick of perpetually shaving, waxing, plucking and regard permanent hair removal as a saviour? If you think permanent hair removal will resolve your hair problems forever, brace yourself for the truth. NOTHING’s really permanent.

“What? Permanent hair removal is not really that permanent?” Yeah, you heard it right. Many the popular hair removal processes you see in the marketplace today only hold in hair growth for a certain time period. Afterwards, you’d in all likelihood have to go through another course of treatment. That’s why experts in the industry define “permanent” as being able to last 12 months or more without having to wax or shave again.

Though 12 months doesn’t seem too long, the time savings from shaving, waxing and plucking for 12 months would make most people happy to just go for a course of treatment every year. I know I’ll be happy.

Using the industry definition of permanence as a guideline, don’t be surprised to find how limiting your choices can be. After all, there aren’t many methods that can totally destroy the hair follicle’s ability to grow and regenerate hair clinically. Besides, people react differently to different procedures. Some consumers may have regrowth in less than 12 months whereas a small minority doesn’t even react to the treatment the least bit! Let’s run through 2 most commonly regarded permanent hair removal methods and appraise their viability.

2 Popular Permanent Hair Removal Methods

(1) Electrolysis Treatments

Believe it or not, electrolysis is the ONLY method that’s clinically proven to remove one’s hairs permanently for most people. But if it’s not adminstratered correctly, the patient runs the risk of scarring!

This method utilizes an electric current which penetrates through the skin’s exterior onto a hair follicle without being detrimental to the skin. Heat created in the process destructs the follicle. Patients have successfully used this method to control hair growth for periods averaging 3 to 12 months. Though hair will eventually grow back, this is still comparatively, a good choice for people with active life-styles. Be aware that multiple sessions are often needed to bring about this effect. Particularly when you’re treating a large patch. They can also be pricey. Some electrologists charge about $500 for each course! So if you’ve a tight budget, other options may be more viable. This method can also be quite painful for some people.

(2) Laser Treatments & Flash Lamp

Opposed to what is commonly believed, laser treatments doesn’t remove your hairs for good. Instead, it permanently reduces them. What? Permanently reduce? How’s that different from permanently remove?

Clinical studies has shown that laser treatments can reduce the size and lighten the colour of the hairs. Unlike electrolysis, it doesn’t destruct the follicle. Instead, it targets the pigmentation within the hair follicles and hence is a better process for people with lighter skin tones and darker hair.

Flash lamp treatments like the IPL (or Intense Pulsed Light has similar effects as laser except that it’s comparatively faster and less expensive. Debates over its effectiveness (relative to laser) are rampant but the conclusion is there are no major differences.

Venoms: Pushing the Limits of Oral Piercings

Category : Fashion

Tongue piercings have been popular now for about 20 years, and are no longer seen as an extreme piercing. All types of people get their tongue pierced, especially teenagers and people in their early 20s. People now look for variations to the traditional tongue piercing in order to do something different from the rest. One of these newer types of oral piercings is a venom piercing.

A venom piercing is a type of oral piercing where there are two holes pierced side by side near the tip of the tongue. It gets the name “venoms” because the location of the piercing resembles the placement of a snake’s fangs. It has become the second most popular oral piercing after the more common vertical piercing, and is becoming more and more popular every year. Many people combine their vertical tongue piercing with venoms, meaning they have three barbells in their mouth. The venom works well for this because of its placement, making it fairly simple to have both piercings.

The venom piercing is fairly easy to perform, which is another reason for its popularity. Although the process can vary slightly depending on the piercer, it is done in a very similar manner to that of a vertical tongue piercing. The tongue is clamped out of the mouth, and the two holes that are going to be pierced are marked by the piercer. Next, a needle is inserted through one mark, followed by the barbell, and then this process is repeated with the other mark. Most people find the piercing much more painful than a common tongue piercing, and the tongue tends to swell up a lot more. However, with proper care and cleaning, this piercing will usually heal quite well.

Like all tongue piercings, there are a few things that people should be aware of if they are considering a venom piercing. First of all, it is usually recommend that you try a vertical tongue piercing first, before getting venoms. That way you are used to having a piece of metal in your mouth, and you are used to being careful about your teeth. Also, not everyone is able to get a venom piercing. Similar to a vertical tongue piercing, the piercer will have to check the shape of your tongue and the location of the major veins to make sure that venoms are possible.

A venom piercing makes a fun alternative or complement to a vertical tongue piercing. It is a great way to try something different from the usual tongue piercing, and for this reason, has started to be more common. As with all piercings, it is very important to get a skilled and experienced piercer to ensure a good piercing experience. If you are truly interested in venoms, make a trip to your favorite piercing parlor, and start making plans for your new piercing!

Design of Shoes Is Very Important

Category : Clothing

Over the last 20 Century the trend of manufacturing shoes has changed to a greater extent, for the place of leather and materials, which were used thousands of years ago, have been taken by the advanced rubber, plastics, synthetic cloth, and industrial adhesives.

Modern technique and materials are no more as reliable as they should be because the artisans, instead of using rare leather use non lasting materials.

Leather, which had been the primary material in earlier styles, has been restricted to the standardized expensive fancy shoes and dresses. Leather products are becoming are status symbol of Celebrities and influential people.

As far as the athletic shoes are concerned they are manufactured with little quantity of leather. Not only the designing but the materials as well have started being used of lower quality.

We are throwing the light on different parts of body playing their unique role in creating the shape of shoes.

Sole: The bottom or the base of a shoe is called the sole.

Insole: The insole is the interior bottom of a shoe over which the wearer keeps his foot. Upon the insoles new insoles can be inserted. Being replaceable and insert able insoles play crucial in providing the foot comfort and grip.

Extra insoles are often added not only to offer comfort for the user but to protect shoes as well from losing its shape, moisture and prevent obnoxious smell of foot perspiration.

Outsole: The outsole is the layer which happens to be in direct contact with the ground. Sole of shoes happen to be multi layered.

Different layers happen to be made of different materials in order to provide the durability and hardness with required flexibility.

Generally the sole of shoes happen to made of rubber or hard synthetic fiber which enhances the pace of movement by providing the wearer a push, in tis way enhancing the speed of movement.

Specialized shoes happen to have desired modifications on their designs. For example the shoes of athletic cleats happen to have spikes embedded on their out-sole to provide the grip on the ground and dancing shoes much softer or harder soles.

Midsole: The layer in between the out-sole and the in-sole is called midsole executing the shock absorption. Some types of shoes, like running shoes, have another material for shock absorption. Different companies use different materials considering different use of the shoes.

Heel: Womens fashion sandals and shoes happen to be high heeled, while the general boots of men bear normal heel not exceeding 2 to 3 inches.

Its function is to support the heel of the foot. They are often made of the same material as the sole of the shoe. Heels are modified depending upon the need either of looking taller or doing the fashion arises.

Straps: Any shoes upper part helps the foot hold the ground with proper grip. Sandals happen to have straps to keep the foot affixed and let the walker move without any complication.

When It’s Too Soon for a Diamond

Category : Jewelry

The holidays are fast approaching, and that means it is decision time for gifts. What do you get your loved one when its too soon for a diamond. If you are even asking yourself if it is too soon to get your sweetheart a diamond, the answer is clear: it is. Diamonds are forever and should only be given when forever can be assured with the completeness of your heart.

But do not despair, this does not mean that you cannot get your beloved a spectacular Christmas gift that will make her eyes sparkle with delight and happiness. Jewelry is still almost the answer to any girls gift centered prayers. So now the question begs to be answered: what type of jewelry should you buy her?

A Watch?
A watch is practical and useful for an entire lifetime. Buy one for your brother or your father and you will see smiles and true appreciation on their faces. Buy one for your lover and you are not going to see the same genuine thankfulness in their expression. Practicalities and usefulness are great for friends and family, but when it comes to the romantic interest in your life, you have to be a little bit more creative and, of course, romantic.

Gold?
Take a look at most popular magazines and you will not see a great deal of gold being worn by celebrities or models. The stark yellow tones of gold pieces do not go so well with every complexion and silver tones are all the rage in Hollywood and Paris alike. Unless you are an expert on color coordination and the undertones of skin, steer clear of trying to match your loved ones skin tones with the right type of gold for their complexion.

Platinum?
Well, in this time of economic recession not too many have a platinum card with which to buy their platinum jewelry. Platinum is lovely, yet it is super expensive. Save your platinum splurge for when you have decided on forever and are ready to invest in those diamonds.

Silver.
Silver is the absolute best choice to give your sweetheart this holiday season. Silver is a quality metal that has been prized for centuries for its beauty and worth. The jewelry artisans in Peru create some of the most unique and beautiful creations in all of the world. To find some of the best holiday gift items on the market, peruse the online offerings by doing a google search for Peruvian silver jewelry. While you will not find any cheap low-end jewelry, you will be able to get your sweetheart a wonderful gift without taking out a second mortgage. There are many heirloom quality silver earrings below $50 and many necklaces and bracelets below $250.

Elaine Rojas is a writer, entrepreneur and inveterate traveler and is partner in an e-commerce site, Tikanchay.com that sells Handcrafted Jewelry handmade by master artisans who produce only the highest quality handcrafted jewelry from Peru featuring handcrafted bracelets, earrings, and necklaces. Extreme Diamonds Fascinate Those Who Behold Them

Category : Jewelry

Marie Antoinette was known for her dazzling jewelry collection and love of bling. Sadly, as her countrymen starved, she could be seen wearing some of the world’s most priceless treasures in the royal court, and that pretty much sealed her fate. A year before her death, the queen gave a collection of pearls to a friend who took them to Britain for safekeeping, fully expecting to be reunited with the jewels. Today, those pearls can be seen as part of an extraordinary necklace, combining rubies and diamonds. The necklace is valued by Christie’s of London at between $350,000 to $400,000. It came on auction at Christie’s in 2007 but failed to sell.

In April 2008, Sotheby’s Hong Kong attempted to auction off a 72.22-carat pear-shaped diamond that was cut from an original rough diamond weighing 188.11 carats. What sets this particular diamond apart from larger diamonds of its kind is the perfect pear shape. The rare flawless D-color gem is prized for its GIA-graded excellent polish and symmetry. The stone was the third largest of its kind auctioned in history. Unfortunately, it attracted a bid of only $73 Hong Kong dollars (approximately 9.24 million US dollars) and fell short of the reserve price. It was later sold to a buyer for an undisclosed sum.

Perhaps one of the most curious uses of diamonds is the platinum cast of a human skull covered with 8,601 diamonds, created by British artist Damien Hirst. The piece was cast from the skull of male who lived three centuries ago. Covered in platinum and diamonds, the skull also features the man’s set of teeth. The piece, entitled “For the Love of God” came from the artist’s mother who asked her son, “For the love of God, what are you going to do next?” The single large diamond in the center of the forehead is reportedly worth $4.2 million alone. At a 2008 art auction, the total diamond skull was purchased for $100 million.

We’re known for being a pet-obsessed society and then there are those who figure nothing’s too good for Fido. Take for instance Stephen Webster’s $1.03 million diamond and gold dog collar. The collar includes Dali web cut two-carat diamonds and a center stone weighing approximately 14.46 carats along with an attached 24-carat gold bone. The collar was designed for the Pet-A-Porter canine fashion show, hosted at London’s Harrods department store in 2007. The luxury dog gear can be purchased at the store’s specialty pet’s department.

The most comprehensive collection of naturally colored diamonds in the world, the Aurora Diamond Collection, or Aurora Pyramid of Hope presents multifarious colors in which diamonds exist in nature. Blue, pink, red, green, orange, purple, yellow, and brown are just a few of the colors that are represented. The 296-item collection weighs a total of 267.45 carats and was assembled over 25 years by New York diamond collectors Alan Bronstein and Harry Rodman. On display at the American Museum of Natural History in New York from 1989 to 2005, it served as the centerpiece for the 1998 exhibition “The Nature of Diamonds” organized by the museum which was seen in Canada, Japan and the U.S. In 2005, the collection premiered in the “Diamonds” exhibition organized by the Natural History Museum of London. It is currently on display at London’s Gallery Vault.

Measuring 104.5 carats, the Great Chrysanthemum Diamond is a distinctive pear-shaped diamond rated a I1 in clarity by the Gemological Institute of America. The Fancy Orange-Brown stone was named the Great Chrysanthemum because of its color similarities to the brown flower. It has appeared in numerous U.S. exhibits and was named a winner of one of the Diamonds International Awards. Originating in South Africa, it was cut from a 198.28-carat rough in 1963. Purchased by Garrards of London in 2003 for an undisclosed amount, it was displayed at the jeweler’s flagship store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, California. Thought to be the fifth largest faceted brown diamond in the world, the Great Chrysanthemum is the second largest pear-shaped brown diamond in the world.

Was Wonder Woman The First Person To Wear A Tiara?

Category : Beauty

There are some items of clothing or accessories that are synonymous with a certain character or style. The leather jacket will forever be associated with rebellion and adventure through its military connections and its use by leading men in Hollywood movies. And large dark sunglasses, the type worn by Jackie Onassis or Sophia Loren, will always give the wearer added sophistication and confidence.

There is one item that has all this; glamour, sophistication, rebelliousness and confidence. The tiara.

The tiara is perhaps the one item of jewellery, the one accessory that can truly transform a person’s appearance and bestow on them an added sense of importance and status. It has been worn by so many people and has such a colorful history that there is not much that the tiara cannot convey, be it wealth, power or humility. It is a truly adaptable item.

A tiara is in fact a form of crown but legend suggests that this particular form of crown was invented by the Greek gods. They called it a Diadem which means ‘to bind around’ and were made from flowers and plants. The tiara became the head dress of choice for kings and Emperors in ancient kingdoms such as Mesopotamia. It became know as a tiara in Persia where it was also decorated with jewels and precious stones, something the Romans also did.

As well as rulers of countries and kingdoms the tiara was favored by the Roman Catholic Church. Known for its elaborate ceremony and wealth it’s perhaps not surprising that the church adopted the tiara as its own. The Papal tiara was an elaborate design that incorporated symbolism representing Christ, power and authority.

The tiara is still favored by the world’s most powerful leaders and was in the news recently when Queen Elisabeth II sat for a portrait by the renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz. It was reported that Things didn’t run smoothly and that Leibevitz asked the Queen to take off the tiara that she was wearing as it was ‘too showy’.

It is also believed that Queen Elisabeth has the largest and most valuable tiara collection in the world. The collection is made up of heirlooms and items she has inherited as well as gifts from other countries and state leaders. But it’s not just royalty who favor wearing a tiara as a symbol of there wealth, power or status.

When pop star Madonna married film director Guy Ritchie in 2000 she wore a 78 carat diamond tiara. The tiara had 765 diamonds and was unusual in that, through the removal of some pieces, it could be turned into a necklace. The tiara was a beautiful example of Edwardian jewellery and could be traced back to 1910.

Perhaps the most famous non royal ever to wear a tiara is Audrey Hepburn. She appeared on screen wearing a tiara, most notably in Roman Holiday, and exposed the item of jewellery to a whole new generation. It could also be argued that the image of her wearing a tiara led to the production of cheaper, more affordable tiaras from high street stores. In the same way that Marlon Brando popularized the leather jacket and James Dean popularized the white t-shirt and blue jeans, Audrey Hepburn popularized the tiara.

And the powerful symbolism of the tiara wasn’t lost on comic book writer William Moulton Marston when he created Wonder Woman in 1941. Wonder Woman was an Amazon, from the idea based in Greek mythology. Part of her outfit was a magic tiara that was crafted from Greek god Apollo’s discuss. The Greek association was also very apt as that was where the tiara is believed to have originated.
